CHAPTER SUMMARY
The idea in one minute
A gap is a space between prices in consecutive sessions. It may appear when a market reopens at a different level from the previous close. Price returning to that zone is known as filling the gap, but there is no deadline forcing it to do so.
What to remember
- Market trading hours affect the appearance of gaps.
- Two charts of the same asset may show different gaps.
- An unfilled gap alone is not enough to justify a trade.
Put it into practice
Compare the specific market and its trading hours before interpreting a gap. Also look for examples that took a long time to fill.
